Inmate Starts A Clothing Line From Jail Using Dental Floss And A Paperclip To Sew

Creativity cannot be stopped in a cage nor can talent be stifled behind bars! These words were inspired after social media was introduced to prisoner Rashod  aka “2500 Shod” Stanley, an Atlanta-native who took his designer skills to create a fashion line—while being incarcerated.

Recently, the 25-year-old inmate went viral after a video clip surfaced of him modeling clothing from his “The Trenches” line, which he made using prison uniforms and materials.

“I would like to think I was the flyest guy in high school and on the streets,” Shod, who’s currently locked up on robbery charges, told The Shade Room.

According to a GoFundMe page, at the age of 19, Shod owned his very own store in Bankhead before getting caught up with the wrong crowd. 

“I want people to know my story because location doesn’t determine destination. I want to inspire others to make something out of nothing and reach their full potential without making excuses,” Shod said. “I want to be a mentor and public speaker to at-risk kids that’s following down the wrong path.”

Although Shod currently sews his clothing using dental floss and a paper clip, his goal is to make his fashion line for everyone of all ages.

“I want to make a name for myself as a fashion designer in the fashion community. I also want to start a nonprofit organization for low-income communities in Atlanta and eventually expand nationwide,” Shod said.

Afeni Shakur Davis, Tupac's mother, dies at 69

(NEP MEDIA BLOG)Afeni Shakur Davis, the mother of one of -hip-hop's most iconic figures, has died at age 69, the Marin County, California, sheriff's office said on Tuesday.

Though she is best known as Tupac Shakur's mom, Shakur Davis also was a Black Panther as a young adult.

Deputies responded to a family member's call reporting "a possible cardiac arrest" at Shakur Davis' home about 9:34 p.m. Monday, the Marin County Sheriff's Office said.

Shakur Davis was taken to Marin General Hospital, where she died at 10:28 p.m., the office said. There was nothing suspicious about her death and there's no evidence of foul play, Lt. Doug Pittman said Tuesday. An autopsy was scheduled for later in the day.

"Sheriff's Coroners Office will lead investigation to determine exact cause & manner of Afeni Shakur's death," the office said in a tweet.

Shakur Davis was a "well-loved, well-respected" member of the community, Pittman said.

"Miss Shakur has had an extensive background not only in the community but her involvement with so many things," he said. "She's been a leader, a person people followed. All that said about who she's been and where's she's at now, this is a tragic loss for this community."

The Shakur family, in a statement, said she "embodied strength, resilience, wisdom and love. She was a pioneer for social change and was committed to building a more peaceful world."

From drugs to arts

In a 2005 interview ahead of the opening of the now-shuttered Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia, Shakur Davis recalled how her life was almost derailed by drugs and how her son got it back on track.

Her drug use made her so oblivious to what was happening in her life that when someone told her in 1990 that her son -- then on the precipice of becoming the biggest name in hip-hop -- was going to be on "The Arsenio Hall Show," she thought the person was lying, she said.

Twenty gang members are facing gun charges after police said they were brandishing weapons during a music video shoot at a Houston park earlier this year.

In March, two rappers, Emekwanem Biosah Jr, A.K.A. Maxo Kreme, and Warren Brown, A.K.A. NFL Cartell Bo, had a run-in with police while filming a rap video at Lakewood Park.

The rappers were filming at the park, which is next to Hillard Elementary School, at about the time school was being let out. Some students made it into the video.

Also in the video were about a dozen loaded guns, some of them stolen, according to police. The guns were being used as props and the extras holding the weapons were all documented street gang members and rappers, according to police.

Since brusing Drake with “The Story Of Adidon” diss track over this past summer, Pusha T has remained quiet about who told him Drizzy had a “secret son” — until MF'n now! 

During an episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Pusha confirms the information about Drake didn’t come from Kanye West but from OVO producer Noah “40” Shebib.

“The information came from 40,” Push tells Joe. “It didn’t come from Kanye — at all. 40 is sleeping with a woman who begins … he talks to her daily … talks to a woman five, six hours a day, provides opportunity for her and ultimately speaks about how he’s disgruntled about certain things like notoriety and things involving Drake and his career.”
